Counting down... are you working on your presentation?

First Rule: Don’t Panic (~Douglas Adams)
Yes, don’t panic. But, start preparing. You have 10 weeks to prepare for your lecture. Plan this time accordingly and you will make the best of it.
So, what to do? How to do it?
In this link you will find a flowchart of 6 chronologic stages of the presentation: 4 of which are prior to delivering your presentation. This will be the main focus of our posts over the coming few weeks.
According to the flowchart, we should be in the planning and designing phases. Here is a partial layout of the information you should already have while planning and designing your presentation:
  • The Water Silences Pop-Up will be on Wed Morning on Dec 11th.
  • Soon you (who submitted an abstract) will receive a letter indicating that your abstract has been accepted and you are given a time slot to present.
  • The session aims to give a stage for students to present their vision of water sciences research and your talk should follow this theme. If you would like to present your research, you might include your ideas on how your field will/should be in the future.
  • Don't forget to think about your audience. This session is open to all AGU members so avoid using jargon from your specific field unless you plan to explain it in simple terms first
  • Avoid sketching a draft on PowerPoint.
  • You will have a maximum of 5 minutes to present. No exceptions.
  • If you need it, you will be able to present using PowerPoint, PDF, Prezi, or another file format (we will know the list of options closer to the time of the meeting).
  • There will be no pointer provided. Normally the screens are pretty large. So, a 10 meters stick-pointer would probably not work either.
  • Abstracts will be viewed online once AGU releases them. You can find the names and titles of other presenters in this session as well.
Hope we have provided helpful information
